It was an Adam Schefter tweet that may change the landscape of football as we know it.

It was a tweet that made you run to your phone and quickly text just about everyone you know. After 22 seasons, the greatest to ever do it was going to quietly fade into the darkness. Or is he? Schefty was quick to tweet right after a statement from Brady’s agent, Don Yee, that basically said everything and nothing at the same time. An absolute BOMB of a quote from Yee, “Tom will be the only person to express his plans with complete accuracy.” Then, there’s this…

There would be no reason for Brady to retire in such a rushed manner and leave $15 mil on the table. Even for as dumb rich as he is, it would make no sense.

Old Takes Exposed may have a field day ahead of them with everyone wishing Tom good luck in retirement. But the one man that would probably catch a brunt of heat would be Adam Schefter, quick to pull the trigger on an unconfirmed source. Even if Brady says he will retire after February 5th, it’s still nothing to victory lap if you’re Schefty.

Worst Case Scenario

Brady may seek revenge against anyone and everyone in his way. The NFC South is the Bucs to lose if he comes back and to have one final ride might be the play. Even if he decided it was time to finally love his family, Schefter taking the announcement away from him might be enough to make him run it back.

Then, one of the final pieces to the puzzle:

ESPN literally publishing an article saying Brady is retiring was a real risky move. I still think it is likely he will leave, but it would be an all-time bad move if he comes back.

Stay tuned, folks.
