Utah running back Ty Jordan passed away Friday night, the Denton, Texas police department told ESPN. The police department also told ESPN that they believe Ty accidentally shot himself.

Utah announced the death early Saturday afternoon. The 19 year old freshman was named the Pac-12 offensive freshman of the year Tuesday of this week. Jordan also managed to make the second team all-conference selection.

“Words cannot express the devastation and heartache that our team is feeling right now upon learning of the tragic death of our teammate and brother, Ty Jordan.” said Utah’s head coach Kyle Whittingham.

Over the season he managed to take 83 carries for 597 yards along with six touchdowns and played in all five of Utah’s games. Utah finished the season 3-2, but declined to participate in bowl games this year.
