Tate Martell had it all. He was the king of college football memes and the apparent heir to the QB throne in Coral Gables. While the meme potential is still alive and well, we’ll have to wait at least a week for the Tathan Martell era to truly begin.

My least favorite theme in college football is QB’s jumping ship for playing time. I get it, guys wanna play. But how much do you really help yourself by leaving so early in your career? There’s such a significant learning curve in so many aspects of transferring. It’s almost better to stick with a system, earn the trust of your teammates and coaches and develop your game in a consistent environment. Familiarity can be a good thing.

Anyway, he should transfer again.

Where will he go?

Look, man, I just work here. I’ve got no idea where he’ll go.

Where should he go?

I can speak on this.

Oregon

Justin Herbert will leave after this season. I’m really only doing this because every time an athletic QB decides to transfer, Oregon seems like a perfect fit. Geographically, Vegas (Tate’s hometown) is only kinda far from Oregon. Florida is much further.

Miami University

The other Miami! It’s one of the best party schools in the nation. It’s rife with debauchery and Martell is the type of guy that could get people talking about the football team. He’d be a superstar at Brick Street the second he steps on High Street.

Maryland

This is where he should have transferred all along. I’m cautiously optimistic about Mike Locksley if I’m a Maryland fan. My favorite memories of Illinois football (really, my only memories of them because I don’t care about Illinois) are of Juice Williams running around doing all types of crazy shit. Mike Locksley was the offensive coordinator that made it all happen. Maybe there could have been a little magic there for Martell.

Indiana

I don’t really like Indiana. But I’ve always wanted them to be kinda decent. They have a good track record of quarterbacks. Martell would at least make Indiana fun. I’d like that.

Rutgers

Hey, man. They need something. Tate Martell is certainly something. By that I mean he exists.

CONCLUSION

Tate Martell might not be suited to be a big-time starter for a big-time team. Dare I say, he’s a decent player that could shine somewhere like West Virginia. Anyway, he’s not the starter for the Hurricanes as of right now. He may never be their starter. Therefore, he should definitely transfer to Rutgers.
